Yoli's motorcycle ride

Yoli's Motorcycle Ride
The best part of the book was when Yoli gets a taste of freedom as her brother takes her on a motorcycle ride during the night time around San Diego. Before the motorcycle ride she was always home cooking and helping around the house like a good mexican girl. Sundays the girls and their family would kneel around the living room table and pray as a family. But the ride gave her a new feeling.
Her brother Chuy and her go on a motorcycle ride during the night.  She gets a feeling of freedom as the wind hits her face and the lights parade around them like a street show. The motorcycle rumbles beneath them. It was like screaming, "Let's Go!"  No boundries, the sky has no limits it seemed like. Everything seemed perfect until  Chuy starts howling at the loss of his loved one.
After her joy ride Chuy returned Yoli home to find their mom with an expression of worry and fear on her face as if she seeing a ghost. The unconditional love Yoli has for her mom meant more than the world itself. In her mind she never meant to cause her mother any grief. When her mom told her she was like her brother and the fact that she didn't yelled at her caught Yoli off guard.  Her worry and gentle words did hurt Yoli. Despite her mothers words the ride was Yoli's eye opener to a new world.
The world of freedom where you are allowed to dream and dreams come true. Beyond this ordinary life was life itself  full of adventure like a new world  waiting to be conquered  by the great explorer.  A motorcycle ride that symbolized freedom for now and ever. The only reason her mother was angry was because she wanted that freedom as much as Yoli did.
